On the second day of the Global E-commerce Summit the Dutch Jorij Abraham and Kitty Koelemeijer are presenting the results of their research “The Rise of the Global Marketplaces: How to survive Amazon & Alibaba and the Other Giants”. Retailers from all over the world are presenting their ideas on the chances and threats of international marketplaces.
It is inevitable that international marketplaces such as Amazon and Alibaba are entering countries all over the world. But what is the actual impact when they enter the market where you as a retailer are already operating successfully? Can you benefit from their success or do they make it harder for you to survive on the market? This study focuses on the history and rise of the most important marketplaces, their key success factors as well as various strategies that other companies can use for dealing with them.
