Fab.com, the New York based e-retailer of design-focused home goods, has launched a German version of its site, aimed at German speaking consumers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Fab, which only launched its US site eight months ago but already boasts over 2 million subscribers, acquired Casacanda, the five-month-old a Berlin-based flash sales site that also sold design products.
Fab.com says it plans to expand to more European countries soon and that it expects international sales to contribute 10-20% of overall revenue in 2012. CEO Jason Goldberg has blogged that Fab quickly focused on Germany as a potential base due to its strong economic fundamentals and the fact that Germans consumers tend to favour design-oriented products.

The company intends to preserve much of Casacanda’s current operation, which stood at 250,000 members making 15,000 orders per month at the time of change of ownership. The page at casacanda.de now links straight through to the new fab.de site.
